A Year of Rest

“Forget about what’s happened; don’t keep going over old history. Be alert, be present. I’m about to do something brand-new. It’s bursting out! Don’t you see it?” (Isaiah 43:19 MSG).

The last couple of years have been filled with uncertainty and challenges resulting from a worldwide pandemic and ongoing instability. So many people have suffered great loss and heartache. It would be easy to shrink back and expect more of the same in 2022. However, God did not create you in order to live with fear, loss, mediocrity, and constant struggle.

The Scriptures tell us that God crowned the year with His goodness and abundance (Psalm 65:11). God has done some great things in your life so far. But God never does His greatest miracles in your yesterdays; they are always in your future. If you stretch your faith this year, you will experience more peace, joy, laughter, increase, and influence.

Visualize Your Victory

Tara wanted to become Miss America from the time she was a little girl. She entered the 1994 Miss Florida pageant and won the first runner-up. The following year she came short of winning the title again. She felt discouraged but rather than giving up on her dream, she stayed focused and entered the 1997 Miss Kansas pageant. This time she won the title, and later that year Tara Holland was crowned Miss America. A reporter asked her, “What’s the secret to your success?” Tara explained how she was tempted to give up after she had lost the Florida championship, but decided to rent all the videos she could find of previous local, national and international beauty pageants. She watched hundreds of crown-winning moments over and over again. Every time Tara saw a woman crowned a winner, she pictured herself receiving the crown. Another reporter asked if she was nervous walking down the runway in front of the judges and millions of people watching on television. “No, not at all,” Tara replied, “You see, I had walked down that runway a thousand times.”

Friend, God has already crowned your year with victory. Have you ever pictured yourself winning a title, wearing a crown, doing something amazing? Can you see yourself feeling healthy, strong and whole again? Can you envision yourself free of debt, anger, and addictions? Is your vision one of abundance, increase, and the ability to help people all around the world or do you see yourself inadequate and struggling? If you want to reach your highest potential, you have to first see it on the inside before you can experience it on the outside. Paul said, “I do have one compelling focus: I forget all of the past as I fasten my heart to the future instead” (Philippians 3:13 TPT).

Press Past the Pain

Genesis 11 tells the story of Abraham’s father, Terah. He lost one of his sons, Haran, at an early age. It was a great loss and a disappointment for him. Several years later, God put it on Terah’s heart to go to Canaan–the Promised Land. At first he was fired up and excited, but when they reached a city called Haran, the same name as his deceased son, he let the memory of his loss steal his mission. Instead of pressing past the pain, moving toward his goal, Terah got discouraged and gave up on his dream. Terah could have been the father of many nations instead of Abraham. He was the original one God told to go to the Promised Land. We could be talking about the God of Terah, Abraham, and Isaac instead of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. The blessing could have started one generation sooner, but Terah decided to settle. He chose to stay focused on the pain.

Are you lingering on your pain, loss, and betrayal? Are you holding on to the past? Do not let setbacks, losses, and bad breaks define the rest of your life! Do not allow a season of mourning to become a lifetime of regret! Press through the pain, regret, disappointment, and failure. Keep moving forward and God will repay you double for your troubles. Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28 NLT). In the tiredness and weariness, do not let the heaviness contaminate this year. Jesus has promised to give you rest. Right now, God is releasing new things into your life–favor, healing, salvation, deliverance, increase, and anointing. I declare that you are blessed with wisdom, that you have clear direction, that you make good choices in life. I declare that you are blessed with a good family and friends, that you have healthy relationships, that your children will be mighty in the land. I declare that you are blessed with protection and provision. God is watching over you and your loved ones. No sicknesses, disease, plagues, or sudden calamities will come near you. You are blessed to be a blessing to the entire world. We love you and we believe in you!

Finding Your Purpose

Do you feel something missing in your life? Do you want to make a bigger impact in the world but you’re not sure how? Relax - you’re not alone! The older we get, the more we feel the urge to leave our mark on the world. The good news is that we can!

Mark Twin said, “The two most important days of your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.” In order to live a satisfied life, we have to connect with our purpose.

Most of you have heard of Gandhi, the man who led the nation of India into independence from British rule. Did you know he started off as an ordinary person? However, Gandhi became unstoppable when he discovered his purpose.

Gandhi was born into a middle class family. As a youth, he was an introvert who suffered from low self-esteem. He struggled to make good grades and finish school. Hoping the environment would motivate him, his parents sent him to England to receive higher education. There he became a lawyer. When he returned to India, he found it hard to find clients because he was unfamiliar with the Indian legal system. Gandhi migrated to South Africa to work as a clerk and it was there that a personal experience catapulted him to discover his purpose in life.

One day, Gandhi was riding in the first-class compartment of a train. However, because of his dark skin, he was forced off the coach. This experience was the turning point in Gandhi’s life. From then on, he dedicated his life to speaking and standing against discrimination and injustice. This new-found purpose eventually fueled Gandhi to lead India to her independence.

Without a vision, the people perish (Proverbs 29:11). When you discover your purpose, you become unstoppable. Purpose is the engine that drives us to our destiny. Nothing is more explosive than a person who is connected to his/her purpose. When we discover our purpose, we awaken the sleeping giant within us.

Never let the odds in your life keep you from pursuing your purpose. The potential of an oak tree sleeps in the acorn. But when planted, it becomes a giant oak tree. Seeds of greatness reside in you. When you surrender your life to your purpose, you’re powerful.

Adversaries are there to your advantage. David was only a shepherd boy until he met Goliath. Everyone said, “Goliath is too big to fight.” David said, “Goliath is too big to miss!” Often the problems we are facing today become the pathways to our greatness. Without Goliath, David would still be known as the shepherd boy.

Be generous with the different things God gave you, passing them around so all get in on it (1 Peter 4:10 MSG).

God put in you specific gifts to match with your destiny. One way you can find your purpose is to discover your natural talents. Another way you can find your purpose is to find your passion. Often, your passion is your purpose. Lastly, serve! If you want to find your purpose, then lose your life in the service of others. Jesus said, “The greatest among you will be the servant of all.”

Friend, God has created you with a purpose. When you discover your purpose, you’ll become powerful. Lose your life in the service of others and you’ll find yourself among the greatest. I pray and declare that you’ll do great and mighty things for God. Like Gandhi, you’ll influence millions. Like David, you’ll overcome every opposition. Your later days will be greater than your beginning, and you will go on to become a world changer!

Living a Life that Counts

I have never met anyone who had planned to live a mediocre life. Even an ordinary person has a routine they repeat. However, if we want to live a life that counts, we have to be intentional about it.

Do you ever wonder if you are making a difference in this life or life after? I believe all of us have an innate desire to live a life that counts. God puts gifts and talents in each of us so that we can make a difference in our world.

When I was a teenager, I loved reading. I stole half of the books from the library to add to my own so that I could read them whenever I wanted to. I had no purpose and certainly; no significance in life. My goal in life was to own a book shop in a busy train station where I could sell books and magazines, and read them for free. I am glad that God didn’t grant me my wishes. I say this humbly, but He called me to touch lives around the world!

When we talk about living a life that counts, we have to ask ourselves, “Are people inspired to draw closer to God because of the influence in my life? Are people motivated to serve God in a greater capacity because of my faith, courage and devotion to Him?” The true success of our lives is not measured by our job titles, bank balance, bigger house and faster cars, but how many people we have been able to impact.

In the 1993 movie Schindler’s List, directed and co-produced by Steven Spielberg, the story unfolds about Oscar Schindler during the Nazi reign and the Holocaust. Oscar is a vainglorious and greedy German businessman who gradually becomes concerned for his Jewish employees who are condemned to death in the concentration camps. Oscar saves eleven hundred lives! In the end, he becomes so engrossed in saving lives that he starts to lament to his co-worker. “I could have got more out. I could have got more out. I didn’t do enough! This car. Why did I keep this car? Ten people right there. This pin. This is gold. He would have given me two for it, at least one. [Starts sobbing] I could have gotten one more person… and I didn’t!”

It is easy to be so self-absorbed that we forget about living a life that counts. We get so caught up in our jobs, business, kids, grandkids and the house, that we forget that none of it will matter in eternity. People are the only thing going to heaven! Albert Pine said, “What we do for ourselves dies with us. What we do for others and the world remains and is immortal.”

One of the biggest hindrances to giving is to think that our gift is too small. In the Bible, a great crowd of people followed Jesus. It was lunch time and they had no food. Suddenly a young boy offered his five loaves and two small fish to Jesus. Today, you may think you have nothing to share with this world. You don’t feel that you can live a life that counts. But we can all learn from this young boy. Not only is our little much in the Hand of God, but when we do anything for God He will make sure that our name is made great. Two thousand years later, we are still inspired by what this young boy did. We should regularly ask ourselves, “What difference am I making in the lives of others? What will people remember me for?” When we spend our time in the service of others, we will find ourselves in the favor of the Almighty.

Friend, are you making your life count? It is not enough to live the American dream but endeavor doing what God cares about. President John Adams said, “If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.” Friend, lead others by example. Let’s not waste another day in mediocrity, regret and narcissist behavior. God still has a purpose for your life. Like Oscar Schindler and the boy with the bread and fish, God wants to use you and make your name great. What you do today is how you will be remembered in eternity. Live intentionally and let us live a life that counts.

“Those who are wise will shine as bright as the sky, and those who lead many to righteousness will shine like the stars forever” (Daniel 12:3 NLT).

God’s Plan for Your Life

As we stand at the threshold of a new year, it is important that we know God’s will for our lives. Many people are uncertain about God’s love for them and what He wants them to do with their lives. I have Good News for you. God’s wants to give you a hope and a future that you could have never comprehend.

Today we will discuss God’s thoughts on five areas of our lives. If we can grasp the concepts of these pillars, we will excel and exceed in every area of our lives.

Get cozy with God. If you want to gather honey, don’t kick the beehive. Our vertical life on earth will only be as fruitful as our horizontal life with God in heaven. When we do our best to honor God with what we know and what we have, we invite God’s unprecedented blessings upon our lives. When we hold on to things that displeases our Maker, we delay our own promotion. God is poised to take you to the next level but you must deal with what’s He’s showing you. If we take time to connect with God in the morning (or any other routine time suitable for you) then God will bring us people to connect with all day long. Put God first and you’ll do a roaring trade in life.

Invest in your family. Our relationship with our family is an indicator of our relationship with our God. When we love, cherish and value the family God has given us, we’re watering our own garden. Often we’re readily available to help others. Don’t advance your career at the expense of your family. Wise King Solomon lamented, They made me keeper of the vineyards; but mine own vineyard have I not kept.” Spend time with your family. Love and serve your spouse. Speak positive words of encouragement and affirmation over them. Give them something to live up to. People are not mind readers – compliment them frequently. Forgive quickly and add honor to each other. Kids spell love T-I-M-E. Don’t just give your best to your company and bring your leftover to your family. Live a balanced life. At the end of your days you will not ask for another day at the office but your loved ones to be with you. Your family is the greatest treasure you have. Invest now, reap later.

Make new friends. It’s comfortable to be friends with people you know. If your friends look all the same, eat the same food, speak the same language and listen to the same type of music, you’re living a very shallow life. Enlarge your circle of friends. Meet new people. Network, go to church, and celebrate with others. Be in the marketplace. Be visible. Communicate. The more you’re investing in others the more God will open doors for you. Make new friends but remember it’s better to have a few good and Godly influences than to drown with the ungodly. Seek out positive, life-giving, lifter-uppers who will cry with you when you’re down and dance with you when you’re up.

Master your money. Money isn’t everything in life but it touches everything important you want in life. If we’re going to be unruly and undisciplined about money, we won’t go very far in life. Our material society has elevated money to be a deity. Never set making money as your goal or let money be a motivator. Instead of wanting money, seek to bless others. The Kingdom of God works in reverse – the more you give the more you’ll receive. Beginning of this year, decide how much you want to give away and then watch God channeling funds through you like never before. Become a conduit. The only thing going to heaven is people; invest in them. Pay your bills ahead of time. Chip away at your debt; you’ll overcome. Believe God for explosive financial blessings from unknown sources. Make God your Source!

Get active. Your body is not only where you live but it is where God lives. When we honor God with our body by doing proper exercise, sleeping enough hours and paying attention to what we eat and drink, we will reap the benefits thereof. Health is wealth. What you do now with your body is how good you’ll look, feel and enjoy in the years to come.

Let me leave you with God’s promise for your life. God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us” (Ephesians 3:20 The Message).

Seek God and Blessings will Follow

It is human to thrive for a good life and success. We want our family to do well and prosper. There’s nothing wrong wanting the fine things in life. However, God wants us to put Him first so that He can bless us to become a blessing to others.

In our modern society, work and career have been idolized. Since we’re kids, we’re programed to decide what we want to do instead of asking what God wants us to do. Our education and career is based on how much money we can make. While work is a strong Bible word, life was not meant to be spent on making a living. We’re created to know Him and make His name known. When we seek God, blessings will follow.

Moses was the son of a Hebrew slave. God’s divine providence landed him in the royal palace of the Pharos. The same people that wanted to kill him ended up adopting Moses as their own son. He grew up with affluence, name and fame but he had no purpose. One day he killed an Egyptian and it catapulted him to seek after God in the wilderness. There, God molded him for forty years (Moses was a stubborn man; it won’t take you that long). In pursuit of God, Moses had an encounter with the Almighty. Moses came down with the Ten Commandments written by the finger of God. The rest is history – Moses became the deliverer of the nation of Israel in slavery. Moses sought after God and not only blessings followed him but through Moses a whole nation was blessed! You too are called to be a blessing to the world.

My brother Neil was a successful businessman in his early twenties. I was in college at the time and every time I saw him he loaded me with money. Sometimes, he literally had money falling out of his pocket and didn’t bother to pick it up. He was filthy rich. After my graduation Neil and I decided to take a mini vacation together to the neighboring country of the Mount Everest. As we went around visiting the underground churches (people were thrown in prison for being a Christian there), my brother Neil heard the Gospel: Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.(Matthew 6:33). Neil gave his heart to God and decided to seek after Him. Fast forward twenty five plus years, today Dr. Neil Anderson is touching millions of lives bringing the Gospel to the persecuted countries. God has blessed him with ten times more than he could have ever imagined.

Many people hesitate to serve the Almighty because they feel God is going to take away what they enjoy. It is just the opposite from the truth. When we make up our mind to give God the preeminence, we’ll begin a life of adventure and abundance like never before. God is still looking for a few good men (and women) who would sell out to Him and His cause. As we make resolutions for the New Year, I challenge you to put God in the driver’s seat and fasten your seatbelt for the ride of your life. Playing it safe is overrated. Try the exhilarating life God has in store for you. I guarantee, you’ll not be disappointed.

This is what Abraham did in the Bible. His family was idol-worshippers. But Abraham had an encounter with God; he became a God-Seeker. When he started out in that faith journey, he barely had anything and the hard, barren landscape held no promises for him. Yet, Abraham plunged himself in the Almighty Hand of God. At the end of his days Abraham was rich not only in material blessing but also in relationships, health and influence. God made him to be the Father of many nations.

What about you my friend? Are you satisfied where you are? Are you content with your lifestyle or do you want more? I believe God has much more in store for you. God has exciting things to reveal to you. Will you seek after God? Will you love Him with all your heart, mind and soul? If you do, He will take you to places you’d never imagined. You’ll leave this planet knowing that you’ve made a difference. Seek God and blessings will follow.

“Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world” (James 4:8 NLT).

Parenting with a Purpose

Kids are a lot of fun. They’re truly a gift from God. Our main job is to train and help them find God’s purpose for their lives. Easier said than done, parenting is one of the most challenging yet rewarding job in the world.

Our culture is having an effect on our children more and more. What was unacceptable just a few decades ago is normal now. Every parent has their right to raise their own kids but there are some Biblical principles, if followed, our children will be mighty in the land.

The other day, my friend was telling me how her daughter confessed to acting up and not having a best attitude with her mom. My friend is very passionate about raising Godly kids. When she asked her daughter what would prevent her from acting up again, she said, “Spending more time with you Mom!”

Kids spell love T-I-M-E. One of the greatest needs our kids have today is to spend quality and quantity time with their parents. When they feel loved, affirmed and accepted, they perform better all around. In our pursuit of happiness, business and career, sometimes we forget what we’re working for. Don’t let that be you. If we’re to enjoy our kids the rest of our lives, then it is wise for us to invest in them now. What we deposit in our children is far more important than what we deposit for them.

Discipline is one of the best ways to show love to our kids. We all need boundaries; why spare the kids? The Bible teaches us to train our children (age appropriate manner). If we don’t spare the rod when they’re young, our children will go through life with lot more success and lot less drama. When we spend time with our children, we earn the right to discipline them when and as needed. Discipline with love is how God deals with us. We should do the same with our kids.

Another great key to parenting is to focus on the majors. Don’t lose sleep over potty training your child. I’ve never seen a twenty-year-old going around in diapers. When we have a relaxed and easy going attitude at home, we’re sending a positive signal to our kids. Remember, people are more important than stuff. Dirty carpet can be cleaned but your kids will be kids only once. Don’t sweat the small stuff!

As the children grow older, teach them responsibility. They’re never too young to start. If we enable them to have an entitlement mentality, they’ll grow up thinking the world owes it to them. A better way is to teach them responsibility and reward them for it.

Spirituality is caught more than it’s taught. I know many Christian parents struggling to keep their kids interested in God. One of the best ways we can impart spirituality to our kids is to be an example. Read your Bible every day; spend time in prayer and fasting. Go to church regularly. Practice what you preach. Disciples are made not born.

As the kids reach adulthood, shift your parenting to consulting. Give advice and counsel only when it’s sought for. I’m planning to charge my kids for advice when they get older. Our children need the space to make their own discovery. They will make mistakes. Be gracious, understanding and patient. Don’t criticize, demean or condemn them. There’ll be enough people in the world to do that. Love, laugh and celebrate together. Don’t just endure your kids, enjoy them. If any of your kids young or old is not walking with God today, keep praying for them. They have no chance when you pray. You may not have had a good example of a parent but now you do. Let’s imitate our Heavenly Father! Parenting is an awesome responsibility. Let’s raise our kids with a purpose and enjoy them!

“Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord” (Ephesians 6:4 ESV).

There’s Plenty for You

Our vision is our future but yet there are so many people content with so little. If we can only raise our vision, we’ll have plenty for what we need and plenty left over to bless others.

One thing I love about our God is that He is a BIG thinker. He created the universe lavishly. His vision to save the world was equally outrageous! The Bible says, He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things” (Romans 8:32 ESV)? If we’re to make a difference in our lives, family, community and the world then we too must think, talk and act like God. Our lives will only produce to the heights we envision ourselves to succeed.

What is your vision? Do you see lack, scarcity and mediocrity? Or are you a big thinker and even harder worker? Vision, hard work and patience will get you just about anything you want in life. In the early 70s, Honda’s vision statement was, “We will destroy Yamaha.” In the 60s, Nike’s vision statement was, “Crush Adidas.” Both have matured and evolved since then. If your personal ambition is to compete with others you’re wasting your resources in the wrong channels. Pursue your own dreams. There are seven billion people in the world today! Someone has a need of your service. No matter what business you’re in, remember this: people don’t buy products; they buy the experience of you. Nobody in the world can substitute what you have to offer to people. You can’t be everything to everybody. Focus on your strength. Don’t try to win everyone. Target those who understand your value, principle and cause.

This year, our goal is to reach 300,000 people with the Gospel. We are well on our way. By the grace of God, your support and the sacrifices of our native missionaries, we’ve already touched over 200,000 people. Next two months are our biggest outreach months of the year. One way we achieve our goal is to constantly remind the vision to ourselves and our co-workers. We don’t wake up in the last month of the year and say, “Oops, I guess we better work harder now.” We start off a new year in full steam and keep the momentum going throughout the year. If we do the right thing long enough, rewards will come. Consistency pays off.

Maybe you’re running a business today and you’ve had a slow year thus far. Don’t panic. There’s plenty for you! The so called “experts” may have a negative report. The Wall Street may say contrary to your belief in God’s ability. Your personal experience may not have been so good. Remember this: God has plenty for you. You will only acquire what you can aspire to achieve. If you think small, you’ll receive small. If you expect great things from God and work equally hard for it, you’ll have everything you need and more. Increase your capacity to receive from God.

A great stumbling block to our accomplishment is when we get bogged down to the details of how things should happen. Don’t misunderstand me. I believe in planning and strategy but never underestimate the power of God. He is a great finisher. What you didn’t achieve the whole year, He can bring to you just through one customer. Your labor in the Lord is not in vain. He knows the desires of your heart and He loves to see you fulfilled. Give God praise by faith. For if God be for us, who can be against us?

Friend, there’s plenty for you. This week, go out with a new spring in your footstep. Expect sales, business, favor and customers to come to you. God has already commanded those into your account. Now it’s your job to walk out by faith and meet your blessings. There’s plenty for you and plenty left over to bless the world. I’m praying for you!

“The LORD will make you the head, not the tail. If you pay attention to the commands of the LORD your God that I give you this day and carefully follow them, you will always be at the top, never at the bottom” (Deuteronomy 28:13 NIV).

Be a God Chaser

Human nature is to want more. We’re all pursuing something. It is not bad in itself to pursue our family, career, business, name and fame. However, nothing we do to advance ourselves will have its full impact unless we first become God-chaser.

Too many people today are spinning their wheels without success. Jesus said, Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need” (Matthew 6:33). In my experience, most people want to pursue God but they don’t know how. Today we’ll discuss becoming a God-chaser.

The first thing we have to do to become a God-chaser is to make a decision. Until we make a quality commitment to put God first in our lives, we’ll not be living up to our full potential. You may not be anything right now but when you become God-chaser, you’ll have everything in Him. God has been on your side all your life now it’s time for you to form an alliance with God.

Jacob in the Bible is a perfect example for us to learn from. He was a cunning man. He didn’t consider anyone as long as he had his way. Integrity was not his strength. He cheated his own brother out of his inheritance over a bowl a soup. One day Jacob had an encounter with God. He repented from his troubled past and then he wrestled with an angel until daybreak. Jacob became a God-chaser! The angel blessed Jacob; gave him a new name (Israel) and a new nature. Everything in his life began to change from that point. He became the Father of the nation of Israel.

One of the characters of a God-chaser is humility. This is so simple yet it is so hard. Humility means dying to our flesh and self-will. A true God-chaser doesn’t try to control his/her own life but one who surrenders to God. Humility will make you bow before God and rise before men. Moses was a self-made man growing up in the house of Pharaoh. He thought he was something until he killed a man. Like most of us men, he had a lot of ego. It took God forty years in the wilderness to humble Moses. But when God was through He made Moses to be the savior of a nation!

Friend, today you may be going through your wilderness. Don’t be anxious if it’s taking you longer than you expected. I assure you, it won’t take you forty years. Life may be uncomfortable now. Don’t try to hurry the process. The good news is when God is through molding you, you too will make history. He will not only change your destiny but of your family and generations to come down your bloodline. When you put on humility and become God-chaser, He will promote you beyond your wildest dream.

Raised in a Buddhist family in Korea, Cho was dying of tuberculosis at the age of seventeen. A girl came to visit him daily to share Christ with Cho. He couldn’t resist God’s love for him and Cho became a God-chaser. He was healed of tuberculosis completely. Cho started a small church with only three people. Today, Dr. Paul Yonggi Cho has the largest church in the world in Seoul, Korea with a membership of over one million people! God-chasers are history makers. God wants to make history with you!

Friend, no matter what you’re facing today, God is waiting for you to return to Him. God is not mad with you; He’s madly in love with you. He wants you to surrender your life to Him. If you give Him the broken pieces of your life, you’ll rise from your ashes. He will take nothing from you without giving you something far better. If God’s love could reach a cheater like Jacob and a murderer like Moses, He can certainly reach you. Make a decision today. Become a God-chaser. I guarantee your life will never be the same again. I’m praying for you!

“Love the Lord your God with all your passion and prayer and muscle and intelligence—and that you love your neighbor as well as you do yourself” (Luke 10:27 The Message).

Don’t Lose Your Brand

Brand is the name, term, design, symbol, or any other feature that identifies one seller's product distinct from those of other sellers. When we think about a brand, it stands out in our mind from the masses. Our brand is our identity.

Airplanes are made to fly. Ships sail and cars drive. No matter how big, fancy and powerful they are its useless unless they perform to do what they’re made for. People spend millions trying to secure their brand. What is your brand? What do people think of when they think about you?

When people think of me I want them to think of two things – inspiration and world missions. I do a lot of things but empowering people with the Word of God and bringing the Gospel to the nations are the focus of my life. Being in the ministry, kind people offer me all sorts of opportunities because they’re trying to help our organization. I appreciate their offer but kindly I have to turn them down. I’ve learnt this principle in life: every opportunity is not for me. I must be true to the vision God gave me and that is inspiration and world missions.

If we’re to be successful in life, we have to find and cultivate our brand. In order to be effective, you cannot be a master of all. You may do many things but don’t let your brand be so broad that people can’t think of one thing that you stand for. People and businesses that thrive are those who understand and cultivate their brand.

U2 is my favorite band in the world. I love their music. I’ve been a fan of this Irish band since they became famous with their hit “I still haven’t found what I’m looking for.” After thirty years, they’re still writing outstanding music and fans like me are following them. If you didn’t know, U2’s front man Bono does a lot of humanitarian work, especially in Africa. He’s also a political activist. He challenges rich nations to forgive foreign debts of the poor countries. They do a lot of inspiring things but their staple is still churning good music. That is the number one reason why they’re still in business and thriving. What’s your brand? What brings out the best in you?

I find people who have great ideas and vision but they never take the time to hone down their trade. They offer multiple services and lack laser focus in their vision. It’s okay to have multiple source of income but don’t juggle two or three businesses until you’re successful at one. You only have a limited energy and resources every day. Everything you do takes your time, effort and energy. If you’re spreading yourself too thin, you won’t have the time to develop anything and you’ll miss out.

When Jesus got started in the ministry, John sent his disciples to check Him out. He wasn’t critical but John wanted to know what Jesus was about? So he replied to the messengers, "Go back and report to John what you have seen and heard: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor. (Luke 7:22 NIV). Jesus was saying, “I’m the Savior, Healer and the Deliverer of mankind!”

Friend, what is your brand? Have you strayed from the original vision God gave you? Are your fingers in too many pies? Do the people think of any one thing when they think about you? Are you spread too thin? Every opportunity that comes along your way is NOT for you. Focus on the one thing God has gifted you with. Don’t be a Jack of all trades. Be a master of one thing and all Jacks will gather around you! Whatever you focus on will grow. As you become successful in one thing, you’ll be amazed how every other area of your life will also start to flourish. Stick to your brand. Go back to the basics. Do what you’re best at and you’ll rise to the top. Don’t lose your brand! I’m praying for you.

“I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:14 ESV).

Vision Brings Provision

If we want to achieve anything in life, we must have a vision for it. A vision is a mental image of something, inspired by God, energized by the Holy Spirit to bring out an idea into existence. Our dreams may vary but all of us can have a vision.

A vision is a powerful force in our lives. The Bible says, “Where there is no vision, the people perish” (Proverbs 29:18 KJV). Many people breathe but they don’t have life because they never started or have given up on the vision God put in their hearts. When we lose the passion for life we become insignificant. This is why we need to strive to be around people who are visionaries and going places in life.

Most of you know, my vision is to reach the unreached in Asia with the Gospel. I love talking, dreaming and helping people who have no hope. Recently, I’ve had trouble in my house with the disposal under the kitchen sink. One of my electric sockets in the front porch was also not working. When I called an acquaintance for repair he gave a quote for a hefty sum. I was not happy to hear that so I prayed for God’s help. The same afternoon, I got a call from a friend. He is a professional who knows how to repair appliances. He came by my house and fixed both the problems in less than a minute. I saved a few hundred dollars. The next day, I got a call from a pastor from India who was visiting Dallas. I knew exactly what I was to do with the money I’d saved. I took him to dinner and put the money I’d saved in repair cost in his hand. He was very grateful and greatly encouraged by the Lord. Friend, don’t just look at what you have in your hands. When we have a vision, God will bring the provision.

In 1965, Fredrick Smith was in college. He wrote a term paper in his economics class. His big idea was a delivery service that would use a hub and spokes concept to handle the routing of parcels. He only managed to score a “C” on term paper. Soon Smith’s vision became a reality. In 1971, upon his return from the Vietnam War, he started Federal Express and the rest is history. Today Fed Ex delivers over 2.3 million packages every day worldwide!

What is so great about Smith’s vision is it began only with a concept. The delivery service took off because he had a vision for something big. The most powerful thing in the world is our imagination. When we dream visions with ideas inspired by the Holy Spirit, we too can change the world with our inventions, gifts and talents. Today, I want us to entertain the thought that you have world-changing idea that God wants to use for the advancement of His Kingdom on earth. If you can envision it, He will help you to fulfill it.

People come up to me all the time that have a vision to evangelize the world with Build International Ministries. They have a family, work, business but they also love God to partner with us in bringing the Good News of Jesus to the nations. Over the last twenty seven years, God sent hundreds of people to win tens of thousands of souls for the Lord.

Friend, I don’t know what is your vision for your life. It may be a great marriage. It may be to see your children do well in life. Your vision may be to be physically fit. Others of you have great dreams to see your business succeed. No matter how big or small your idea is never cease to have a vision for your life. Never underestimate your impact on our world. God has breathed his life into you. You’re about to give birth to a dream that has been put burning in you. No matter how long it has been, don’t abort the vision God gave to you. Others may not understand you but God does. Make plans, speak the vision and take corresponding action to see your vision come to pass. Your vision will bring the provision.

“I will pour out my Spirit upon all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your old men will dream dreams, and your young men will see visions” (Joel 2:28).

Doing Business in Deep Waters

Inside each of us is a desire to do great things in life. When we experience a few setbacks, we tend to tone down our dreams and settle for a mediocre life. If we want to accomplish great things we have to nurture a big vision.

The Bible talks about doing business in great waters. It talks about experiencing God’s miracles in the deep waters. When we’re splashing around in the shallow it is safe.  When you’re in the deep waters, out in the middle of the sea, you have to trust and depend on God for your very survival. You have to take risks but the payback is the great treasures in the depth of the ocean floor.

I want to talk to primarily business owners today. However, these things are applicable to anyone who wants to make a big impact for God. Your dreams and purposes are not there by chance. The Creator of the universe put those desires in you. You’re born for such a time like this. The wealth of the world is stored up for you. God knows your heart is not just to provide for your family but also to touch the world with your influence and resources. Today, let’s talk about a few principles that will propel you to your ultimate destiny.

Believe in the dream God placed in your life. When you set out to do great things for God, you’ll have many opportunities to abort your dream. God will always give you some people who will believe in you but most of the time you have to be your biggest cheerleader. Protecting your dream will be one of your greatest challenges. Very few Christians believe that God wants them to become wealthy and change the world. There’s a small-mindedness that keep most people limited in the shallow waters. It will require all your faith and determination to do business in deep waters. Protect your dream. God is with you in the deep!

There will be oppositions. Great visions will have great oppositions. It comes with the territory. When Joseph had a dream, his own family was the first to laugh at him and tried to steal his dream. He went to the pit, then to the prison but ultimately to the palace to become second in command in the country. Moses faced a similar fate when he struggled for his own survival. But God’s grace led him to the very heart of Pharos’s house floating in a basket. He became the deliverer of the great nation of Israel. David would still be known as a shepherd boy had he not faced his Goliath. Daniel faced the lion’s den. Jesus had to flee to another country as a child to escape the great slaughter. His whole life was marked with challenges but He championed all of life’s trials when He rose again from the dead. You too my friend possess the same potential as the great men of faith before us. You can’t please every person and God at the same time. You will have oppositions but God has prepared a banquet table in front of your enemies. Those who oppose you now will see your success and marvel at God’s goodness in your life. Embrace challenges; it will help you rise higher.

Have some determination. If you build it, they’ll come! Most people give up without finishing the goals and visions God placed in their hearts. What they don’t realize is how close they were to accomplishing their dream! You’re closer than you think. You have come too far to go back now. Great treasures of the sea are in the deep. Give up the low life. Stretch towards heaven. It takes the same faith of a mustard seed to believe God for a $250,000 or a $5,000,000 business. With the later, you can have more influence to win our world for Jesus. You’ve got what it takes. God has the right people lined up for you. Your breakthrough is just in the horizon. Don’t give up until you see God’s miracles in the deep.

Friend, no matter what you do, dream big. Expect great things from God. Don’t let the enemy steal the seeds of greatness from your heart. Embrace challenges. The magnitude of your problem is an indication to the size of your destiny. Don’t be surprised if your dream is taking longer than you anticipated. Get out of the shallow waters. The wealth of the world is yours but you have to launch out into the deep! God is with you and I’m praying for you.

“Those who sail on the sea in ships, who do business on the high seas, have seen what the LORD can do, the miracles he performed in the depths of the sea” (Psalm 107:23-24 God’s Word).

Be a History Maker

Inside each of us there is a desire to do great things in life. God put that dream in there so that we can change history. Our lives are not to be like a leaves floating through life but to make an eternal impact. We’re born to make history.

We all start off with great dreams and visions in life. Children go around in the capes trying to be a super-hero. Unfortunately negative experiences and words of people convince us that we’re merely ordinary. We give up our dreams and settle for the average life. At best, we’re satisfied with the American dream – big, house, big car and a big bank balance. None of this is wrong in itself but if that is where our dreams end then we’re dreaming too small.

Last week I was attending a funeral of my dear friend Mr. Tim. He was only in his mid-sixties but his life came to an abrupt end. He’s in the loving arms of Jesus now. Please pray for his family. What I liked about his funeral was that people came forward to attribute greatness to his life by the lives he touched. Some flew in from out of town. The room was packed with people. Every person in the hall was touched by Mr. Tim in one way or other. I myself went to the microphone and shared how his life and partnership continues to change lives in Asia. Apart from his sterling character, Mr. Tim was a history maker. He will meet the people he touched and spend eternity with them worshipping our Lord.

It is easy to get so busy and focused on the natural things of the world that sometimes we have no time left to think about eternity. Yet, what is unseen is much more real than what we busy ourselves with every day. When Jesus walked on this earth, he constantly pointed people to heaven and life after death. Our time on earth is short-lived but eternity is forever. We too must spend our time, effort and energy in the light of eternity. God wants us to make our mark in history.

Often we look in the mirror and think, “What difference can I make?” That is one of the biggest lies of the enemy. God has put gifts and talents in each of us to make a difference in our world. Parhald is a young man in the Himalayas who had to quit school in seventh grade. There was very little opportunity in his village so he joined the revolutionary fight for an independent state in his region. He carried weapons and lived the guerilla lifestyle fighting for their cause. During his short visit home, a family member challenged him to serve God and do something great with his life. Shortly after, Prahlad came to our Mission Training Center and received short training in the Bible. Long story short, for the last sixteen years, Pastor Prahlad is serving the Lord full time with our ministry. He has been instrumental to touch hundreds of thousands of lives in the Himalayas. He is a true example of what God can do with an ordinary person. Pastor Prahlad is a history maker!

I meet people every day who are living an ordinary life but deep inside they have an uncanny desire to do something great for God. Lawyers, business persons, housewives, students, professionals want to be part of Build International Ministries because they know we’re touching thousands of lives with the Gospel every month. No matter what you do, always think of yourself as a history maker. There’s more to you than what you think. You are here on earth to make an eternal impact. Nothing is too small when you do it for our great God.

Friend, don’t settle for a mediocre life or even the American dream. I challenge you to find and live God’s dream for your life. He wants to use you to make history. Like my friend Mr. Tim, Pastor Prahlad and Jesus, we too are born to touch lives for our God. Together, we can make our world a better place to live and make an impact in eternity. You are a history maker!

“If you keep yourself pure, you will be a special utensil for honorable use. Your life will be clean, and you will be ready for the Master to use you for every good work” (2 Timothy 2:21 NLT).
