Many people go through life
self-doubting, confused and even unsure of God’s promise in their lives. They
are good people but they have not understood the power of their tongue. They underestimate
themselves, others and the power of God.
One of the great lessons we can learn in
life is not to say what we see and feel but to say how we want things to be. When we pronounce how God see us, we will
charter the course of our lives in a positive direction. We can say what we
feel or we can agree what God says about us and our situation. The Scripture says that Abraham believed in the God who brings the dead back to
life and who creates new things out of nothing (Romans 4:17). Abraham saw himself as the Father of
many nations long before he ever had Isaac born to him. He spoke before he inherited.
If we
want to be productive in life, we have to send out the right words to bring
forth the desired results. Jesus taught us,
we will have whatever we say (Mark 11:23). For example, if we’re to close a
sales deal, we have to see ourselves signing that contract. Business can only
flourish when we speak life-giving words over ourselves, our employees and our
customers. We can speak God’s Word over our children and see them return to the
Lord. If you’ve received a negative report from the doctor, speak healing Words
over your own life and before you know it health will spring forth. Anyone can
report what they see but a person of faith and maturity will declare what life
is to be.
In our
recent trip to China, my friend David and I were returning home from a long twelve-hour
plane from Beijing. We had a four hour layover in Chicago airport. We’re tired
and I wasn’t looking forward to waiting another four hours trying to catch our connecting
plane back to Dallas. I prayed and by faith told David that we’re going to be
on the six o’ clock flight. We landed around five o’ clock. When we went over
to the counter they told us that the next flight was at five thirty. It was
5:25 PM. There was no way we could catch the next flight so we settled to wait
for four hours. But we kept thanking God for favor. We were strolling along to
our assigned gate when David looked at the departure screen and found that the
five thirty plane still hadn’t arrived. Faith rose up in us! We hustled through
the busy Chicago O’Hare Airport and found ourselves on the waiting list of the
five thirty plane which was delayed. As we walked past the door to step on the
plane just before six o’ clock we chanted, “Long
live Jake” to show our appreciation to the man behind the counter! In the
plane we thanked God for favor and getting us home four hours early that night!
You may blow me off saying life doesn’t
always happen that way. True. But I’d
rather believe in something and wait on God with anticipation than to go
through life complaining why things are not happening. Like me, your faith may
be small but Jesus said that if we have
faith as little as a mustard seed we can move mountains. Faith always demands an action. The first
action you can take is to speak positive, life-giving words into your adverse
situation.
I know some of you my friends are
going through a dry-spell. Nothing has worked right for you in a while.
Business is slow. Sales are down. Your health is not where it needs to be. The relationship
is deteriorating and there is not sign of your loved one serving God. Let me
encourage you today. Like Abraham, don’t
be discouraged by looking at the deadness of your circumstances. Look unto God –
the author and finisher of your faith.
This week, why don’t you thank God for
the miracles He’s orchestrating in your life. God is with you and He is for you. Today let me
declare God’s promises over your life. You
are the head and not the tail. You’re above only and not beneath. You’ve got what
it takes. By the stripes of Jesus you’re healed. You have the mind of Christ.
You’re not a victim; you’re a victor! No weapon formed against you shall prosper.
Goodness and mercy will follow you around. Curses are broken and favor is
following you around like a magnet. Don’t contradict and void what God is
doing in your life by speaking negative words. Speak faith-filled words and see
God perform in your life.
“Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, Whom He has
redeemed from the hand of the adversary”
(Psalm 107:2 NAS).
