Earlier this week, I was visiting with
a young couple in their twenties when the man said, “I believe a revival is coming to America. My wife and I are preparing
ourselves to win souls for God.” I congratulated the young couple for their
desire to serve God.
I hear so many conflicting thoughts
about God working in America. Many people believe that there is no hope for
America. They quote social and moral decay. They claim that we’ve become a
secular nation.
There may be some truth in what they’re
saying but I believe there is an awakening going on in America right now. God
is drawing a harvest to Himself regardless of some loud voices in our society or
politics. I meet young and old everywhere whose heart is turned towards God –
you’re one of them!
Let me introduce Brandon the young man
I met earlier this week. As I listened to his story I was amazed how God is
saving America. Brandon had been deep into occult. He was an official member of
a Satanist church. Yet, God in His amazing love reached out and delivered
Brandon. Now he won’t stop at anything but serve God.
Josette is another example of God’s
saving grace. She had all her family in the Mormon Church. Prior to their
marriage, she’d spend endless hours trying to prove Brandon wrong. But nothing
is more powerful than the Holy Spirit. Long story short, after many Bible studies,
Brandon was able to win her over to the Lord. Today, Josette works part time at
a retail outlet but the highlight of her day is when she gets to share the Lord
when the opportunity presents itself with her customers.
Friends often ask me, “Sandy, why is God not working in America as
He is in China, India and Asia?” My reply, “God IS working in America. Look at you!” We have to keep our focus
on what God is doing and not be distracted by the enemy. The enemy is “like” a roaring lion so he roars but Jesus
is “the lion” of Judah. Our God died
on the Cross to save the world and
America is part of it. We must proclaim God in America.
Inside a cave Prophet Elijah felt suicidal
and in despair. He had completely
given up on society. But God said, “I
reserve seven thousand in Israel—all whose knees have not bowed down to Baal.” Among these was godly
Obadiah. Obadiah was a high-ranking governor who served in evil King Ahab's
household. He had hidden 100 prophets, and was keeping them alive with bread
and water. Friend, the moral
decay may stink but don’t lose your hope and your joy. God has the right people
in the right place – you’re one of them. Let’s just make sure to be the salt
God called us to be.
Today, I’m encouraging us to have a
new vision for America. Let’s stop playing church. Let’s pray, let’s believe;
let’s spread the message of Hope! Now is our time to take a stand for what we
believe. We don’t have to be loud or obnoxious. Truth doesn’t need a defense. But
when we lift God in our lives, homes and community uncompromisingly, Jesus has
promised to draw all people to Him. There is Hope for America. But we must
decide which side of the fence we belong to. If God can save a member of the
Satanist church, a Mormon and you, there’s not only a revival coming… there’s a
revival going on in America. Stop praying for revival and jump in the one that’s
going on!
